The Light

The light is slow to know it means;
the candle burns but never dims.
Since now the shadows dance,
let us sing, again!
Let’s not speak softly of the night
(the coming of the final turns);
so slow to know it means, the light
holds fast to light while still it burns.

The River’s Daughter
